Sorry, Game of Thrones fans: season seven has been delayed.

***Heads up: this post contains spoilers for season six of Game of Thrones. Read on at your own risk.***

Dear Game of Thrones creators: this is not OK.

We were only just getting over the fact we’d have to wait another year to find out what happens to all our favourite characters.

We’ve spent way more hours than is healthy poring over fan theories, discussing whether Jon Snow and Daenerys will really get married, what the hell Bran is up to (to be fair, we’ve been asking that for years), who Tyrion’s real family is, and how Queen Cersei will destroy Westeros.

And then you come along and tell us we’ll have to wait even longer to get our answers?

No. Nope. Nuh-uh. Not cool.

Filming on the already highly-anticipated seventh season of the show has been delayed due to… wait for it… the weather.

After six years of waiting, it was finally confirmed that winter had arrived in the final episode of season six.

Listen: The Binge recapped the explosive final episode last week. (Post continues after.)

But due to that very fact, filming has to be delayed because it’s currently summer in the northern hemisphere, where production takes place.

Sunshine and green grass does not a show about winter make.

“We don’t have an air date yet, but this year will probably be a little bit later,” the masterminds behind the show, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, revealed this week.

“We’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, ‘Winter is here’ – and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more,” they continued.

“So we kind of pushed everything down the line so we could get some grim grey weather, even in the sunnier places that we shoot.”

I guess we can’t really be mad at them for trying to you know, trying to stick to the script.

What are your predictions for next season?
