You might not want to hear about Jen Aniston's salmon sperm facial, but you need to.

A bit of shush, please. A little bit of shush. Because the celebrities are putting weird s**t on their faces again — and we need to talk about it. As a matter of urgency. 

Because this time it's our friend Jennifer Aniston.

In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, she said she would "try almost anything" when it comes to anti-ageing treatments.

And that includes a salmon sperm facial.

Yes. Salmon sperm! On your face.

She said an aesthetician suggested she try the treatment, to which she replied, "'Are you serious? How do you get salmon’s sperm?'" the actor explained in the interview.

While it sounds... not incredibly enticing... salmon sperm is actually a popular ingredient used in Korean beauty spas. 

Apparently, it promises a ton of anti-ageing benefits, including increased collagen production, improved pigmentation and reduced redness and inflammation.

Buuuut she went on to share that the treatment didn't actually do much, which is ultimately not what you want when you agree to have fish sperm smeared on your face, but hey.

When it comes to treatments that Aniston actually recommended, she told The Wall Street Journal she had weekly peptide injections to help reduce the visible signs of ageing. 

"I do think that’s the future," she said.

In case you missed it, peptides are all the rage right now, both in skincare and cosmetic treatments – and for good reason. 

Known as the 'building blocks' of the skin, and work to improve the hydration and elasticity of the skin, while supporting collagen and elastin production.

This isn't the first time Aniston has been open about what she's tried over the years. She's previously shared she's used anti-wrinkle injections in the past – but wasn't a fan.

And while we all know celebrities have access to the best dermatologists, plastic surgeons and makeup artists in the world (and they definitely do a whole lot more than they actually admit to us mere mortals), it's also a nice reminder that they're not immune to ageing.

There's just something about Aniston being upfront and transparent about some of the different treatments she's tried that feels really... nice? Different?? Fun??

Post Olive Oil Gate (cheers, JLo), it's just refreshing to see celebrities talk honestly about their experiences with anti-ageing treatments, rather than push the fake narrative that taut, youthful-looking skin just requires you to "drink lots of water".

Take Kim Kardashian, for example. She's also spoken about some of the treatments she undergoes, specifically in a recent Allure interview, where she admitted: "I care. I really, genuinely care about looking good," Kim said.

"I probably care more than 90 per cent of the people on this planet," she said. “It’s hard to explain because I am at peace, but I would still do anything to look and feel youthful.”

Yes, this is a thing we already know about Kim. Yet somehow, it was incredibly refreshing to hear her admit it.

In a recent interview with The New York Times she also said: “If you told me that I literally had to eat poop every single day and I would look younger, I might. I just might.”

(But just in case you thought she was referring to a WHOLE bowl of poop in that NYT interview, she confirmed to Allure, “Maybe just a bite. I don’t think I can do a whole bowl.”)

Oh, Kimmy.

When asked what kind of cosmetic treatments she's had done, Kim shared that she gets "a little bit" of anti-wrinkle injections in the space between her brows.

She also admitted to having laser treatments after her kids' bedtime. 

"I do my beauty treatments usually late at night. After everyone’s in bed, I’m doing laser treatments."

It's ultimately the perfect reminder that, no – you're not going to get skin like Kim just by using her skincare range.

Like Jennifer Aniston, Kim has literal doctors. Dermatologists. Aestheticians. Access to fancy laser machines. All at her fingertips. Literally ANY time she wants.

A few years back, she also put the popular 'vampire facial' on the map, sharing that famous image of her face covered in blood. Victoria Beckham is another celeb who's spoken candidly about having this creepy-looking treatment.

In recent times, the treatment is quite common and is known as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment. (Our very own Leigh Campbell tried it here).

Then there's Gwynnie. Dear Gwynnie.

Our friend Gwyneth Paltrow has always been VERY candid about all the weird s**t she's done.

On her website, Goop, she's opened up about having everything from bee venom therapy to facial acupuncture and... look, we feel like this will just get exhausting. (Don't get us started on her 'rectal ozone therapy'...).

There was also that time Sandra Bullock, Kate Beckinsale and Cate Blanchett opened up about having the controversial 'penis facial'.

That's not its official name, mind you. 

Known as the 'Hollywood EGF facial', the treatment involved using epidermal growth factors (or EGF) from the stem cells taken from discarded foreskins of newborn babies in Korea.

(Can someone call Mum? I'm scared).

Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Sandra Bullock spoke about the treatment, explaining, "It is an extraction from a piece of skin that came from a young person far far away…"

She added: "I’m not lying there with little pieces all over my face. I call it the penis facial. And when you see how good it is to your face, you too will run to your local facialist and say “give me the penis.”’

And there we have it.

As weird and silly as some (most) of these treatments sound, we're all for more transparency when it comes to celebrities' attempts to reverse ageing.
