Jennifer Aniston just said what we're all thinking about why women stay single.

Jennifer Aniston has given a candid interview about her dating status right now and it turns out she's happier riding solo.

The actor is currently promoting the upcoming season of Morning Wars (aka The Morning Show), which she stars in and co-produces with long-time friend Reese Witherspoon.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the actor addressed why she doesn't want to be in a relationship

"I didn’t like the idea of sacrificing who you were or what you needed, so I didn’t really know how to do that," she said.

"It was almost easier to just be kind of solo. So I didn’t have any real training in that give-and-take.”

Aniston credits her parents, Nancy Dow and John Aniston, divorcing when she was young as one of the reasons she's avoided relationships. "It was always a little bit difficult for me in relationships, I think because I really was kind of alone. My parents, watching my family’s relationship, didn’t make me kind of go, 'Oh, I can’t wait to do that.'"

The Emmy-winning Friends star divorced Justin Theroux in 2018, which followed an even more public divorce from Brad Pitt in 2005.

"It’s just about not being afraid to say what you need and what you want. And it’s still a challenge for me in a relationship," the 54-year-old said.

"I'm really good at every other job I have, and that’s sort of the one area that’s a little..."

Jennifer's vulnerable comments come in contrast to an interview she gave in 2022.

"I'd love a relationship. Who knows?" she told Allure in December. "There are moments I want to just crawl up in a ball and say, 'I need support.'

"It would be wonderful to come home and fall into somebody's arms and say, "That was a tough day.'"

Whether Jen wants to find a partner or stay single is (of course) her personal choice – it shouldn't the subject of public debate. But since it's THE Jennifer Aniston we're talking about, it's difficult to separate the star from the decades of discourse around her dating life.

In 2016, Aniston penned a scathing essay taking aim at the tabloids over the years of speculation around her history of relationships, and more specifically, the incessant pregnancy rumours that have plagued her career.

"My marital status has been shamed. My divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed," she wrote.

"We don’t need to be married or mothers to be complete. We get to determine our own ‘happily ever after’ for ourselves."

It was true in 2016 and it's still true now.
