Oh no. Karl Stefanovic’s Instagram account was hacked and it did some controversial things.

Karl Stefanovic found himself in a social media tight spot yesterday when his Instagram was reportedly hacked while he was on a fishing trip.

During the rogue period, the person acting as the axed breakfast show host reportedly liked two comments which criticised the Today show and his former colleagues.

Sharing the news on his Instagram stories, the 44-year-old said he would be taking a short break on social media while the problem was being resolved by authorities.

“While I was out fishing my Instagram account has been hacked. I am investigating this with the authorities and will be back soon. Karlos,” he wrote.

While his Instagram was under siege, Stefanovic was seen liking one comment that simply said, “The audience want answers,” while another was more scathing towards his ex co-host, Georgie Gardner.

“Won’t be watching. Well, Miss Gardiner [sic] got her way. Pathetic, smile, agree and laugh. It’s all they do,” it read.

According to the Daily Mail, his profile also liked a post from his brother, Peter Stefanovic, his sister-in-law Sylvia Jeffreys, and also shared a post celebrating his younger brother, Tom’s birthday. However, it’s unclear if the person tagged in the photo (@mali_dje) is actually his younger brother.

Although Stefanovic was axed from his role hosting the flagship breakfast show, according to the network he will remain with Nine and continue to host his other program This Time Next Year, which records in February.

On Saturday, his replacement was announced as Nine News journalist Deborah Knight, in an Australian first which will see a major breakfast television program fronted by two women.
