When Khloe Kardashian called Jordyn Woods "fat", she undermined her entire empire.

This week, a very important television event took place.

After months of waiting, the now-infamous Tristan Thompson/Jordyn Woods cheating scandal finally unfolded before our eyes on the two-part season finale of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

It was supposed to be a season finale of epic proportions.

A gift to the trash TV obsessed public.

But instead, the reality show ended up rubbing fans the wrong way.

Watch the trailer for Keeping up with the Kardashians Season 16 below. Post continues after video.

In a scene which was heavily featured in trailers for season 16 of the long-running show, Khloe screamed down the phone at Tristan’s friend Savas.

But while it was a relatively expected reaction to the fact that Khloe’s partner had cheated on her with her sister’s best friend, the words that came out of her mouth undoubtedly crossed the line.

“Liar! Liar! Tristan, f*ck you if you can hear me! They both admitted it to me. Both of them,” she screamed down the phone.

“Those fat f*cking a*seholes. Don’t f*cking lie to me. Don’t f*cking say that you didn’t do something that you f*cking did when you f*cking told me that you kissed, bitches!”

And with just one single word, Khloe Kardashian undermined her entire empire.

You see, over the years, the Kardashian family has certainly had a spotty record when it comes to body positivity.

From spruiking detox teas and appetite-suppressing lollipops to joking about using illness as a diet and even publicly praising skinniness, the Kardashian sisters are far from being beacons when it comes to the body positive movement.

But for Khloe Kardashian, it’s been different.

In fact, almost her entire personal brand and career is based on the premise of body positivity.

Of course, her time in the spotlight has been marked by some less-than-great moments. From promoting unhealthy ‘detox’ teas on her Instagram account much like her famous sisters to her heavily criticised reality television show Revenge Body, Khloe hasn’t always been considered an ally to the body positive movement.

But in recent years, the 35-year-old has become even more dedicated to the causes of ending body shaming as well as sharing her own personal journey to body acceptance.

In 2016, the reality star launched her clothing line Good American – an all-size inclusive brand – alongside fashion entrepreneur Emma Grede.

Put simply, Good American’s whole shtick is being a body positive fashion brand which celebrates curves and offers flattering, on-trend designs (that don’t compromise fit or style) in sizes 00 to 24.

In Australian sizes, that translates to sizes 4 to 28.

In 2017, Khloe also launched her very own reality show – Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian.

Acting as a mentor to people who struggle with their weight, Khloe helps participants on the show gain confidence and improve their mental health through fitness.

And although the show has been criticised in the past due to the negative connotations associated with the term ‘revenge body’, the premise behind the show is largely positive.

After all, Khloe herself has been subject to body image issues and constant body shaming since KUWTK first premiered in 2007.

“My family never made me feel less than. My sisters and I all looked different… I didn’t know that I was bigger or different than them until I started doing our TV show,” she told W Magazine in 2017.

“I started to be in the public eye and people were able to pick me apart… I really commend my mum and sisters for never making me feel less than,” she added.

Over the years, fans of the Kardashian-Jenner clan and the media alike have conversed endlessly about how the sisters have all individually built successful businesses and personal brands.

For Khloe Kardashian, almost her entire empire – her clothing brand, her personal brand and her reality show – has been built on the darker parts of her time in the spotlight. The bullying. The body shaming. The name calling.

But this week, after years upon years of being relentlessly body shamed, Khloe Kardashian decided to body shame Jordyn Woods on national television.

Since the cheating scandal saga erupted on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the video footage of Khloe screaming down the phone and calling Jordyn “fat” has trickled down our social media feeds and onto our TV screens.

The impact of this shouldn’t be underestimated.

When you’re someone like Khloe Kardashian, who has a following of over 95 million people on Instagram and an entire brand dedicated to body positivity, the responsibility is absolutely yours.

After all, when Khloe Kardashian called Jordyn Woods “fat”, she didn’t just undermine her empire.

She rendered it completely pointless.
