French prosecutors have laid the first charged against four suspects arrested over the armed robbery of reality star Kim Kardashian during Paris Fashion Week last year.

The charges come as French police arrested 17 people in relation to the incident in a 6am raid earlier this week.

A 63-year-old man, Yunice A, was charged with robbing the 36-year-old star at gunpoint, and leaving her bound and gagged in the bathroom of her luxury Parisian apartment on October 3.

Charges filed against the man involve armed robbery in an organised gang, kidnapping and criminal association. Prosecutors also requested he be kept in detention.

64-year-old Marceau B was charged with helping “pass off’ some of the $14 million worth of jewellery that was stolen from Kardashian. The stolen jewellery is yet to be recovered.

The two other men who have been charged - aged 44 and 27 - are accused of tipping off the group of thieves about Kardashian's whereabouts during her time in Paris.

Before the charges were laid, French authorities released three men and a woman who had been arrested earlier in the week in connection to the incident. Ten people - nine men and one woman - still remain in police custody.

One of the men arrested was the TV star’s chauffeur. The 27-year-old worked for a luxury car firm in Paris, and was regularly used by the Kardashian family when they travelled to Paris.

Kim spoke about the traumatic ordeal for the first time in a newly released promotion for her reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
