Although they met in a (very, very, very) non-conventional way, The Bachelorette‘s Lee Elliott is planning on an “old-school” proposal to Georgia Love.
Speaking to BW Magazine about their life together since the reality TV show wrapped in late October, Lee and Georgia say they’ve each found “the one”.
“I’ve got the right person … I am old school … I want to do it right,” the 35-year-old mechanical plumber told the publication.
“I will ask her dad [Chris Love] for her hand in marriage and do something special.”

Although he doesn't specifically say he will ask her dad first, before proposing, I assume that's what he meant as most people seem to do this. It frustrates me that everyone thinks this is "in-keeping with tradition " - has no one read a Jane Austen novel? They always ask the woman FIRST, then ask the father IF the woman accepts!
Actually, in lots of places it was all just arranged through the father, and then the daughter was just told who she was marrying!! It's a very problematic tradition...but these days it is seen as respectful. I think it's nice if the partner asks both parents for their blessing/best wishes to ask their daughter.
Yes, they were often just arranged marriages - but no one seems to want that to happen because of "tradition"! My point is that asking the father before asking the woman has very little foundation in tradition - either ask her first, then if she says yes, ask the father/parents, or don't claim it's "old fashioned" or "traditional" - this is mostly a very modern tradition.
I respect every couple's right to do what is right for them, but personally, I don't get it. I will never understand how it's respectful to ask other people's opinion of a proposal before the woman is asked. Thankfully, my parents are wholeheartedly in agreement with me.
