Multiple engagements and a bizarre YouTube channel: What Paris Hilton's life looks like now.

With platinum blonde hair, popularity on a global scale and a pedigree of unimaginable wealth, Paris Hilton was the ultimate pin-up “it-girl” at 22 years old.

Hilton’s unique fame was responsible for velour tracksuits becoming a coveted ensemble, low-rise jeans being at the centre of early 2000s fashion and the rise of narcissism-as-a-career-option.

For a brief period, she dominated celebrity culture. It was all thanks to The Simple Life, the US series spearheaded by Paris and her then best friend, socialite Nicole Richie.

Paris and Nicole – perhaps accidentally – created two caricatures of wealth that soothed middle America with walking, talking proof that all the money in the world couldn’t buy common sense.

Viewers watched as Paris stumbled to comprehend how people have jobs, complete housework and live in rural areas.

Now, at the age of 39, Paris Hilton has maintained the lifestyle she is so well known for.

Here is what Paris Hilton’s life looks like today, 17 years after the first episode of The Simple Life aired.

Paris Hilton’s fall out with Nicole Richie.

Production on the fourth season of The Simple Life was reportedly halted due to a dispute between Hilton and Richie.

Hilton confirmed the pair were no longer friends in a statement, saying “It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends. Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it.”

Meanwhile, Richie told the Today Show that the friends had simply ‘grown apart’. She denied a feud, saying that the incident had “just turned into a much bigger thing than it is. It’s just not part of my life.”

However they now appear to be friendly again, with Nicole telling Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in 2014 that they resolved all their issues with each other.

"Paris is somebody that's been in my life since day one," she said. "An idea of a true friend is somebody that's going to be there with you through and through.

"I haven't spoken to her in a while, but we are very good friends. I love her and I love her family. I have a lot of respect for her."

Paris Hilton's relationships

It's no secret that Paris Hilton has weathered a slew of relationship highs and lows.

From Nick Carter to Benji Madden, Hilton's love life has always been a spotlight affair.

In 2018, Paris became engaged to actor Chris Zylka, who she had been dating for a year when he dropped to one-knee. The engagement caused a frenzy at the time thanks to the 20-carat pear-shaped centre stone ring she had on her left hand, worth no less than US$2 million.

Paris' newest ring wasn't the biggest she had ever owned – for five months back in 2005, Paris wore a 24-carat ring while engaged to then-22 year old Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis.

The socialite was also reportedly briefly engaged to fashion model Jason Shaw in 2003 during their one year relationship.

Paris went through her third engagement breakdown when she called off the wedding plans with Chris Zylka just a few months after he proposed.

"When I fall in love, I fall in love fast and hard, and it was this whirlwind romance," she told The Talk at the time. "I've always been obsessed with Disney stories and love stories, and I thought it was gonna be my happy ending, and I just realised after time that it wasn't the right decision."

In October last year, Paris opened up to US Weekly about her desire for a family one day.

"I’m totally immersed in my work, but I would love that one day. I think that having a family and children is another meaning of life. One day I would love that, but with my schedule, I just honestly don’t have time for it right now. One day I will, and I’ll be the best mum."

Now, Hilton is in a relationship with Carter Reum, a 38-year-old entrepreneur and best-selling author.

So, what does Paris Hilton do now?

Once the talk of Hollywood, Paris Hilton disappeared from the spotlight for a few years as her relevance wained.

In fact, in 2011, Paris Hilton was asked by Good Morning America if she ever worried "about your moment having passed".

She promptly walked out of the interview.

She later returned, answering: "I've been doing this for 15 years now, so it's been a long time. So just like any other business person or someone in the industry, it's always important to reinvent yourself and come up with new projects."

Indeed, she's been trying to reinvent herself ever since.

She has had a number of fragrances and fashion lines and the occasional song release, most recently in 2019 with the *masterpiece* that is "Best Friend's Ass".

Her latest adventure is a YouTube channel, which features vlog-style videos and a series aptly titled "Cooking With Paris".

Paris' video featuring how to cook lasagne included telling her viewers: "Don’t break [the lasagne sheets] in half or it ruins the lasagne vibe." In short, it was a slightly bewildering culinary adventure.

In the 2018 Netflix documentary The American MemeHilton reflected on her life over the past two decades of fame and the pressure she’s under to “have a legacy”.

"The whole reality show world, or that whole industry, you don’t really grow up," she said. "You’re almost like, stuck in this character. I’m a 21-year-old for the last two decades.

"It’s just all part of an image and a brand and being a product. It’s like groundhog day. Everything I do is just the same sh*t, different day.

"I already do have a legacy, but once you start that, you just can’t stop. A lot of people don’t understand that you need to be sustainable forever."

Paris Hilton's birthday party

In true Paris Hilton fashion, the hotel heiress has had a headline-making birthday party.

On the weekend, the entrepreneur celebrated her 39th birthday with an extravagant soirée that was, of course, themed pink.

Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Chris Brown and Heidi Klum were all in attendance to the party, that saw Hilton be presented with a pink, two-tiered birthday cake topped with a crown.
