An untelevised event in the spring: All the details of Princess Beatrice's wedding.

This year, Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Princess Beatrice will marry her fiance, multi-millionaire and property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

On Friday, the Buckingham Palace confirmed the date and location of the royal nuptials.

“The wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29 May 2020,” the statement read.

“Her Majesty The Queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

“The ceremony will be followed by a private reception, given by The Queen, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.”

The lead up to Princess Beatrice's wedding has, of course, been marked by controversy, as the past six months have been a period of scandal and secrecy for the monarchy.

Princess Beatrice's father, Prince Andrew, has been embroiled in a storm in the wake of his ‘disaster’ BBC Newsnight interview in November last year.

In his appearance on the current affairs program last month, the Duke of York denied allegations that he had sex with a then-17-year-old named Virginia Giuffre in 2001, and defended his friendship with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The scandal has largely been labelled a 'PR disaster' for the British Royal Family and has seen Prince Andrew, the Queen's son, step down from his official royal duties.

Here's what we know about Princess Beatrice's wedding.

How has Princess Beatrice's wedding been impacted by the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew?

Princess Beatrice reportedly helped set up the BBC interview for her father and was supportive of him speaking to 'set the record state'.

According to Daily MailBeatrice sat alongside Prince Andrew at a meeting with the BBC Newsnight team just three days before filming, as they finalised what would be discussed during the lengthy televised chat.

But she was left distraught by the reaction to the interview and was in tears after it aired.

Days after the interview, Beatrice's fiance's 36th birthday celebrations at Mayfair nightclub were affected, with a member of the Princess's circle telling the Mail it was a "solemn and awkward affair".

The publication added that Beatrice has changed the date of her engagement party "because of fears there will be too many photographers outside – looking for him".

As for the actual wedding, it's understood the planned carriage processions and live TV coverage have both been scrapped, with the Princess now trying to downplay the event.

It is still unconfirmed if Prince Andrew will walk his first daughter down the aisle, as he did for Princess Eugenie.

However according to a royal source who spoke to News Corp Australia, Prince Andrew will.
