What a beautiful read Lauren. I am sorry for your loss.

I also lost my Dad recently. In fact, Mamamia published a reflection I wrote about that.

My Dad wasn’t interested in VAD. He was looking for a “magic wand” to the end.

My experience of my Dad dying crystallized my wish (and my husband’s) to use VAD if we have that opportunity. Reading your story cemented that wish even further.

Wishing you strength. The grief is tough and Christmas makes it tougher I think xx

I love cruising! I am currently on my 11th cruise (in Croatia). There is a common misconception that cruising is a lazy way to travel and it is for older people.

Yes, it is a great option for older and less mobile people. They get a stress free, all inclusive holiday. Good on them!

For the rest of us, we get tasters of different ports, food and drinks included, we unpack once and all the stress of getting to point A and point B to catch planes or trains or drop off rental cars is removed.

There’s loads of different food and entertainment options,  you don’t have to worry about picking up wet towels off the floor or making your bed (lazy I know but you’re on holidays!!)

What is not to like??

Agree Stacey. This is so heartbreaking on so many levels. It’s a while ago now that shopping centres were my refuge (my children are now 20-28) but I still remember how much I enjoyed my shopping centre outings with my babies and toddlers. Never once did I think my children or I would be in any danger 💔
