A great review. Also some very interesting gender role commentary- how the women have l my performative power, easily unseated, yet do all the work to maintain the status and expectation of the family brand. Several of The men also like to blame the women for “making them” do certain things with some of the female characters pushing back on that and others not. The men often get to be catered for and appear as the good guy, or at least are less punished, than the women.
Absolutely horrific, this poor woman. A real testament to her yo focus her work on protecting young children when she wasn’t. I hope she heals and realises she didn’t have a choice, it wasn’t her fault- the people around her and the system failed her and her sibling. Thanks for sharing mamamia
A great article filling in the details. Shows that real life is often far more interesting than fiction! Wonderful for Serena to able to own and celebrate her heritage
A beautiful reminder of sharing kindness really can make someone’s day/week/month
Underwear for humanity is a great Aussie company, B certified corp are fab too: https://underwearforhumanity.com.au
Given everything else happening to women and girls it is delightful to read something positive! So happy for Cleo and her family. Hope she continues to thrive
@snorks I was meaning this cheerleading team specifically. Regardless of the worthiness of the skill set (as I agree with the original comment re: under paid professions), it sucks that women are creating value that someone else benefits from. In this case, the Dallas cowboy owners.
@mamamia-user-482898552 sure are! I totally hear you on the inequity (yay - capitalism! /s)
One of the kindest gifts from one human could give another.
Isn’t there a broader cultural issue of the heckling which seemingly ingrained in the process. I don’t see how this does anything to progress the informed decision making yet it is apparently a requirement / expectation. This sort of communication errodes the ability of our representatives to debate the merits of a given topic. Embarrassing
@rush 100% - fear is a prison constructed carefully over time by the abuser as another weapon of compliance and control
Putting aside the horrendous sexist, hateful, controlling and disturbing aspects of his message that other commenters have pointed out so well…
Sounds like there are bigger issues at play here tbh with ring-gate being a symptom of a problem
@chrissyinthemiddle it’s excellent he is using the privilege of people listening when he speaks, in part due to his sex. I wonder if his (awful) experiences have made him more aware of the potential frustration/disappointment some female victims may feel at his words being received better than theirs.. Imo it’s a lovely a respectful acknowledgment as an ally in the horrendous crisis.
The phone bags are great too, provide protection for you phone and several have a little pocket for keys, credit cards etc
Thanks for covering this, a real and impactful issue for those being stalked at their families. The structural and social barrier as outlined in the article require an overhaul. Great to hear about the pilot in Vic - however they also need to review the fact you need the perpetrators HOME ADDRESS to register a stalker beggars belief. This poor woman who was taken too soon. More needs to be done.
Hilarious and love that you couldn’t help yourself by giving a number at the end 😂
I suspect this wouldn’t have happened to a man. This is akin to sexualisation of violence to females. Not to mention the objectification. Sigh!!!
This is awesome. Now I have to train the dogs to fill up their baskets ..
Never ceases to amaze me how little empathy people have. It not as though the crying is deliberate as a weird sadistic kick. Part of being in society is accepting that sometimes how other people in our community are kind of annoying at times and instead of blaming them, try and understand their situation and if we can do anything to help.
