It sounds like a lack of communication is the real issue. On side note, after my parents decided they should get married they went shopping for an engagement ring. Mum chose a ring she liked and they get to the register where dad said “do you have any money on you, I forgot my wallet”. 45 years later this is still laughed about but really it all comes out in the wash after a life of living together!
