It's so disturbing to read the 'lost control' defence for abus*ve men. He never 'lost control' at any point- there is no excusing his actions by pretending he lacked agency. That man exercised full control in harming and k!lling an innocent person. I'm with the grieving parents and I'm deeply sorry for their loss.

Can we please stop hearing about Katy Perry. Far more important things going on.

It's not just about that though. It's about her being a tone-deaf uber-rich celebrity spruiking a space-themed tour after wasting millions going into space for a few minutes while the majority of her fans probably struggle with rent.

Are we seriously recommending the US as a travel destination right now with the kind of stuff going on and the risks of entry for international travellers?

I'm so sorry for what you went through, and I'm so familiar with that kind of grief. My dad developed early onset Alzheimer's (I was about 16 at the time he started changing) and he just passed away this year. At 27 I moved back to my hometown to help care for him. I'm 32 now. I think it's wonderful you're creating a support community- wish I'd had it a years ago.

This was so well written. Thank you for providing this more nuanced perspective.

I’m a little confused- did you want the people who politely ignored you to be more interactive or something? It sounds like they both minded their own business, so I’m not sure why they were painted as insensitive.

So much respect for your profession, your courage & your advocacy. Love the idea of reclaiming the word to be for our liberation as women, and not against it.

Caroline, I can’t imagine what you’ve had to go through to get to where you are now, but how incredible you are. Thank you for sharing your story. I know what it is to lose everyone you thought cared about you after a traumatic incident & subsequent physical and mental recovery- that pain runs deep. And mums are absolute superheroes! I wouldn’t have survived without mine, either. In awe of you & the way you’ve turned something life-shatteringly difficult into strength and beauty. 🩷🩷🩷
