"I smell like a crayon." A comprehensive look at Robert Pattinson's most insane moments.

Although it’s hard to believe, it’s already been over a decade since Robert Pattinson burst onto our screens with his appearance in the 2008 fantasy film Twilight.

From the abomination that was the nickname ‘RPattz’ to Team Edward T-Shirts, it was an… interesting time.

And now, 12 years later, it seems Robert Pattinson is all anyone can talk about.

The English actor is currently preparing to appear in Matt Reeves’ upcoming stand-alone film The Batman as Bruce Wayne himself.

And although the film won’t arrive in cinemas until 2021, fans are already labelling Pattinson the “perfect” Batman.

Late last year, Pattinson returned to the spotlight when he appeared alongside Timothée Chalamet in Netflix’s The King – a historical drama based on several plays from Shakespeare’s “Henriad”, including Henry IV and Henry V.

In the film, RPattz (I’m sorry) played the heir to the French throne – the Dauphin of France – who waged war against English monarch Henry V (Timothée Chalamet).

But although fans loved Pattinson’s supporting role in the movie (and his glorious wig), they couldn’t stop talking about his ridiculous choice of accent.

In fact, it was so outrageously French, Pattinson’s accent almost bordered on parody. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Meanwhile, speaking to The Irish Times prior to the film’s release, Pattinson shared that he hadn’t quite figured out his character until he saw hair and makeup photographs of his The King costar Lily-Rose Depp.

“I was like, ‘I want to play a princess too,'” he said.

And that was when we realised it.

Robert Pattinson has been trolling us all along.

Ever since the now 33-year-old stepped into the spotlight, he’s become well-known for his ability to troll precisely all of us with his ridiculous interviews.

It all began during the throes of his Twilight days. During press interviews, Pattinson was well known for his obvious aversion to the saga.

Case in point:

“When I read it, it seemed like a book that wasn’t meant to be published.”

“[Edward] is kind of a mixture of looking slightly constipated and stoned.”

“Why are they still in high school? It doesn’t… they’re a hundred years old.”

“Twilight fans are literally on the verge of being clinically insane.”

But it didn’t end there.

You see, in 2011, Pattinson took his interview trolling to a whole other level when he blatantly lied on the Today show.

Remember that time Robert Pattinson made up a story about a dead clown… Post continues after video.

Speaking to host Matt Lauer ahead of the release of 2011 film Water for Elephants, in which the actor was playing a circus hand, Pattinson essentially made up an entire story about witnessing the death of a clown at the circus.

When Lauer opened the interview by asking whether Pattinson had ever dreamed of running away to the circus, Pattinson responded: “The first time I went to the circus, somebody died”.

“One of the clowns died,” he added.

“Are you being serious right now?” Lauer responded.

“His little car exploded. The joke car exploded on him,” the actor replied.

“Seriously. My parents had to – everybody ran out. It was terrifying. It was the only time I’ve ever been to the circus.”

Only… a week later, Pattinson admitted that he had made the entire story up. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

“I said those things. But I actually made the whole thing up,” he told a reporter when asked about the infamous clown death.

“It’s coming back to haunt me. I said it on some show. It was really early in the morning the day after the New York premiere. Someone asked me what my experience with the circus was and I was like, I have nothing interesting to say. I don’t know why I said that!”

Several years later, in another interview, Pattinson complained about the, erm, regular occurrence of masturbation scenes in his movies.

“I keep masturbating,” Pattinson told Variety.

“In the last three or four movies, I’ve got a masturbation scene. I did it in High Life. I did it in Damsel. And The Devil All The Time. I only realised when I did it the fourth time [in The Lighthouse].”

Now, ahead of his role as the latest incarnation of Batman, it seems Pattinson is trolling us all over again.

Speaking to a reporter, Pattinson hinted that he might be adopting a pirate-style accent for the film… teasing thousands of Batman fans in the process.

“[Willem Dafoe’s] voice in The Batman was quite inspiring for it, to be honest. It is pretty similar, the voice I’m gonna do, to Willem’s,” he said.

“Aaargh! I think Batman has a sort of pirate-y kind of voice – I think that will really suit it.”

The actor, who is the face of fragrance Dior Homme, also told Allure about his ~natural scent~.

“Lots of people tell me I smell like a crayon,” Pattinson told the publication.

“[It’s] like I’m embalmed.”

Whatever you say, RPattz. Whatever you say.
