It has been confirmed overnight that Simone Battle, former X Factor contestant and member of girl group G.R.L, has tragically passed away.

The 25-year-old’s body was found at her home in Los Angeles at 8am on Friday, the Daily Mail reports.

A joint statement from Reign Deer Entertainment, Robin Antin, Kemosabe Records and RCA Records has been released overnight. It reads:

‎“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”

Battle’s band members also released a statement mourning the death of their friend and colleague:

“Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone’s incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart.

We will carry her memory with us in everything we do.”

G.R.L.’s songs included the platinum hit ‘Ugly Heart’:

Battle rose to fame after being head-hunted by Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin.

The band were in Australia only last month promoting their latest album. At the time Battle tweeted, “Just landed in Sydney, Australia!!! Ugly Heart playing on the radio! Just found out its platinum! Life is but a dream!!!”

Our thoughts are with her family, friends and fans at this difficult time.
