Trinny Woodall is a fashion icon. No doubt about it.

Since the early 2000s, the TV presenter turned business owner has been sharing her style and fashion prowess with a highly engaged audience of women.

It all started with the hit show What Not To Wear, becoming one half of the television duo 'Trinny and Susannah' with her close friend, Susannah Constantine.

We learned plenty of tips and tricks from the pair, and Trinny – whose real name is Sarah-Jane Duncanson Woodall – went on to curate a sparkly social media presence that includes colourful outfit tutorials, closet confessions, make-up and skincare hacks.

And she has more fans than ever, with Trinny having over 3.3 million followers across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.

This month, Trinny came down under to launch two new Trinny London pop-up stores in Sydney and Melbourne. And of course the Australia trip included a visit to the Mamamia office as well.

And while here, Trinny did what Trinny does best – bring the style advice, embrace the bold colours, and provide plenty of fashion inspiration to women across the country – regardless of age.

So to mark the 58-year-old's place in the style zeitgeist, we decided to look back at some of her most iconic outfits, from the early 2000s to now.

Trinny on ageless fashion:

"There are many things that make us feel invisible as we go down the path of life. I want to feel that I am literally hammering on people's doors until I'm 95 and they never ignore me," she said to The Star recently.

"And that might be how I dress, how I speak, what I put on my face, how vibrant and alive I look, that makes it so that I'm considered in the conversation."

Trinny on how to dress for summer:

"A lot of people ask me 'what are the summer essentials' but for me my summer wardrobe is something I've kept the longest. My first essential is a scarf dress that can do anything. It's also about textures in the summer. My default skirt is something flowy, basic and a fabric that doesn't crease easily," Trinny said in her Closet Confessions series

"A kaftan-wrap dress is also a classic. Use a belt that is a complementary colour."

Trinny on the perfect shoe:

"I always tell women that a beautiful trainer/sneaker can be your best friend," she said.

"And I have some wonderful ladies who follow me on Instagram and see me in a lovely dress and go, 'Oh, you ruined it with the trainer.' And I will go back and I'll say, 'No, I made it with the trainer."

Trinny on how to make our wardrobes more sustainable:

"Pre-loved is fabulous. Second-hand be from anywhere – it can be vintage, Ebay, Depop and charity shops," Trinny said in her Closet Confessions series alongside stylist extraordinaire Amy Bannerman who is a pioneer in sustainable fashion.

"Look for quality fabrics and buy your denim second-hand. Also embrace the menswear section – they aren't as fitted, the quality is usually good and you can find great staple business shirts."

Trinny on helping women find their style.

"I think of all the things that I've got in my career that I love the most is the fact that women find it easy to be intimate with me quickly. That to me is a very special thing, because you know then that a woman trusts you," Trinny said on Mamamia's No Filter.

"When Susannah and I did our show, there were some really raw and emotional moments. What you wear should bring you joy. Fashion is about making women rise up and feel their best."

Trinny on why you're never too old to wear white:

"Why do people think it's only for the young and petite? Nonsense," she wrote for You Magazine.

"The trick to wearing white well? Think layering and textures. Sheer is also a playful way to add white to your look as it's not about showing off skin, just creating the illusion of doing so. I like to team my favourite gilet with a statement top. Keep your trousers well-cut, but neutral. Finish off with a metallic accessory of some sort – a bit of shimmer goes with everything."

Trinny on the basics every woman needs in her wardrobe:

"It's about how to do little twists to your classic pieces that will elevate a look. And the way to do this is by originally having a capsule wardrobe and then building on it," Trinny explained.

"These are the key pieces I would put in a suitcase and feel I have a wardrobe wherever I go. I love an A-line pair of denim jeans. Plus a jumper that is unusual in a neutral colour (for example a puffed sleeve or interesting neckline). A white t-shirt is another must-have. It's also great to have a coat – they're a key piece, and it should go with lots of outfits. Last but not least, a quality blazer."

Trinny on wearing sequins:

In an Instagram live with Mamamia's co-founder Mia Freedman, Trinny and Mia bonded over all things sequins.

The pair both adore a sequined top or blazer, with Trinny saying: "They bring joy to my life. Whenever I'm feeling a bit flat, a sequin will do it for me. I'll wear sequins a lot with sneakers, as they don't just have to be for night-time."

Trinny on how to shop in under ten minutes:

After decades spent in the fashion industry, scanning has become second nature for Trinny.

Speaking on this subject to the Daily Mail, Trinny said she has a certain method that helps her shop in under ten minutes – and get exactly what she's after.

"Knowledge – of you, your body and what looks best on you, as well as of your local high-street shops – is the key to scan shopping. Scan shopping works best when you’re familiar with the store layout and its sub-brands," she said.

"I always advise people to bring supportive underwear if they're buying a dress for an occasion, for example, or shoes you'd like to wear so that you can see the outfit at its best. Ignore the mannequins if you want to avoid disappointment. If you like something on a dummy, nine times out of ten it won't be in stock as everyone else will already have snapped it up."
