'It's my job to recommend TV shows. These are the 12 to watch in July.'

Hunkering down on the couch? Same. It's cold outside, and thankfully, there is a lot of new TV to keep us entertained.

This month, a slew of beloved shows are returning for highly anticipated second seasons, and there are a number of very intriguing mysteries to sink your teeth into.

Here are the 12 shows to add to your July watchlists:

Gold Diggers - ABC iview.

Ever wondered what would happen if you inserted modern, audacious Australian humour into 1853? Weirdly specific question, but sure! Lucky for you, ABC's new local comedy Gold Diggers has the answer.

It's 1853 and the wildly optimistic Brewer sisters (played by Claire Lovering and Danielle Walker) set out to get lucky, via marrying dumb, rich and preferably old men whose money they can inherit. But first, they must conquer the lads, lice and lechery of the Australian Gold Rush in this eight-part series.

Gold Diggers premieres July 5 on ABC iview, and at 9.10pm on ABC TV.

WHAM! - Netflix.

In 1982, teenage best friends George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley signed a record deal. Four years later, they played their very last gig at Wembley Stadium - having successfully taken over the world with chart topping hits like 'Wake Me Up Before You Go Go', 'Careless Whisper' and of course, 'Last Christmas'.

This new documentary charts the incredible story of how they dominated music in just four years, with unprecedented access to both George and Andrew's personal archive including remarkable and never-before-seen footage, alongside rare, candid and previously unheard interviews,

WHAM! premieres July 5 on Netflix.

The Horror of Dolores Roach - Prime Video.

The Horror of Dolores Roach is based on the hit Spotify podcast series of the same name. It's a contemporary, Sweeney Todd-inspired urban legend of love, betrayal, weed... uh, cannibalism, and survival of the fittest.

There's a lot going on here!

In the series, Dolores Roach (Jane The Virgin's Justina Machado) is released from prison after 16 years and returns to a gentrified Washington Heights, New York City.

She reunites with an old stoner pal, Luis (Alejandro Hernandez), who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. But when the promise of her newfound stability is threatened, Dolores is driven to shocking extremes to survive.

All seven episodes of The Horror of Dolores Roach drop July 7 on Prime Video.

Survival of the Thickest - Netflix.

Survival of the Thickest is the latest in one of my favourite genres: shows about good-looking people in nice clothes walking around New York City.

Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau) is newly single — not by choice! — and unexpectedly finds herself having to rebuild her life as a struggling stylist.

Despite it all, she's determined to thrive with the help of her chosen family... and some lip gloss.

Expect this very bingeable series, based on Buteau's acclaimed book of essays, to have on-the-job faux pas, dating highs and lows and lots of laughs.

Survival of the Thickest drops July 13 on Netflix.

Full Circle - Binge.

Claire Danes, Dennis Quaid, Timothy Olyphant and Zazie Beetz star in this six-episode miniseries directed by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh.

The crime drama follows an investigation into a botched kidnapping, that uncovers long-held secrets connecting multiple characters and cultures in present day New York City.

The first two episodes of Full Circle premiere July 13 on Binge, followed by two new episodes weekly on Thursdays.

The Summer I Turned Pretty - Prime Video.

Belly and the Fisher brothers return for season two of The Summer I Turned Pretty

The season begins with a rift between Conrad and Jeremiah, but when an unexpected visitor threatens the future of Susannah's beloved house in Cousins Beach, Belly has to rally everyone to come together again (and decide, once and for all, what her true feelings are).

The first three episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty season two premiere July 14 on Prime Video, with new episodes weekly on Fridays.

Bay of Fires - ABC iview.

Tasmania is kind of killing it in the TV game. The newest show to be set amongst the state's rugged and moody landscape is Bay of Fires, a dark comedy crime drama co-created, produced and starring the incredible Marta Dusseldorp.

She stars as Anika Van Cleef - the last person on earth who ever wanted to live in a remote community in the wilds of western Tasmania. But after multiple attempts on her life, a stranger who claims to be on her side provides her with a new name and a house of sorts for her and her two kids, before whisking them away to the aptly named Mystery Bay.

There, they find a place where locals hide more secrets than they do, and outsiders are viewed with suspicion bordering on the murderous.

Bay of Fires premieres July 16 on ABC iview and at 8.30pm on ABC TV.

The Bear - Disney+.

Hot chefs are BACK, baby!

If you haven't watched The Bear's first season, get on that now - season two is already out overseas, and it's just as critically acclaimed as the first.

When we meet them again, Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot.

As they strip the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.

With such a massive undertaking, the entire staff is forced to come together in new ways.

All 10 episodes of The Bear season two premiere July 19 on Disney+.

Minx - Stan.

Minx season one was one of my favourite shows of 2022, so I am so excited for it's return.

The show centres around Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher Doug (Jake Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women. In order to get her career on track, they must navigate their way through the LA porn scene, facing challenges and conflicts from opposing parties.

In season two, Doug and Joyce grapple with Minx’s explosive success, which brings more money, fame and temptation than either of them know how to handle.

Minx season two premieres July 21 on Stan, with new episodes weekly on Fridays.

Special Ops: Lioness - Paramount+.

Laysla De Oliveira stars in this spy thriller alongside Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman. What a cast!?

Cruz Manuelos (De Oliveira) is a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine recruited to join the Lioness Engagement Team, led by Joe (Saldaña), to help bring down a terrorist organisation from within.

Her task? Befriend the daughter of a suspected terrorist who is being surveilled by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. No biggie.

The first two episodes of Special Ops: Lioness premiere July 23 on Paramount+, following by new episodes weekly on Sundays.

Fifteen-Love - Binge.

Fifteen-Love is a tense new series from the makers of Line of Duty, set against the backdrop of the prestigious world of tennis.

Five years after she crashed out of the semifinals of the French Open with a devastating injury that ended her career, teenage tennis prodigy Justine Pearce (Ella Lily Hyland) is now working as a physiotherapist at her old tennis academy.

When she makes an explosive claim about her former coach, Glenn Lapthorn (Aidan Turner), it rocks the tightknit community and forces everyone to rethink everything they thought they knew about the pair’s relationship.

The series delves into the darker aspects of sport, shedding light on often overlooked issues like power dynamics.

Fifteen-Love premieres July 23 on Binge.

RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under - Stan.

Start your engines - because the funnest race in all the land returns for a third season featuring fabulous queens from Australia and New Zealand.

As always, Queen Ru is joined by judges Michelle Visage and Rhys Nicholson, as well as exciting guests, to find Down Under's next drag Superstar.

RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under season three premieres July 28 on Stan, with new episodes weekly on Fridays.
