If you don’t often find yourself starting conversations with, "I saw this TikTok the other day that..." then I don’t relate to you.

The addictive videos have me convinced that the next big thing is likely just one swipe away so I must keep watching.

2022 was a big year for beauty hacks; so to make your life easier, I have tried MANY of them and narrowed it down to only the very best.

Here are the hacks worth trying.

1. The perfect 90s supermodel blowout.

We're starting off strong with the multitude of tutorials dedicated to emulating Cindy Crawford’s famous 90s blowout.

I’ve spent months attempting different hacks to perfect the look, and TikToker @mattloveshair has a knack for explaining exactly how to do it with incredible simplicity, regardless of the tool you are using.

I’ve also given hair rollers a crack, but I won’t lie - it was a mess. My hair was sliding off the rollers and getting tangled when I tried to style new pieces.

But then I came across this golden tip from TikToker @anneli. bv - she suggested twisting the roller just before you clip it in place to stop the hair from sliding off.

This is definitely one I'll be trying again.

2. Split ends no more.

We've all heard of skin care slugging, but have you gotten around hair slugging? It’s as simple as lathering your ends in your favourite lightweight hair oil, putting your hair into a fuzzy sock, and securing it into a low pony with a scrunchie.

When you wake up, your hair will feel smooth and delicious - and with continued use, you'll feel a real difference in the health of your ends.

Plus, after trying this for a few months, my hairdresser asked what I had been doing differently. Turns out my hair wasn’t as frayed as it usually is between trims!

3. How to avoid any glasses marks.

There’s nothing worse than your perfect makeup look being ruined by a sunglasses dent on either side of your nose. You know the feeling.

Well, all this time we could’ve been doing this simple hack to avoid it!

All you do is apply a little translucent powder onto the nose of the sunglasses before putting them on - and voila!

Your makeup will stay put.

4. The trick to getting your foundation to last.

The foundation-in-water trick blew up online and is one of the most popular beauty hacks to date - and believe me, I was very sceptical about it... especially, after the wrap Kelly and Erin gave it a few months back.

BUT! I just had to try it for myself.

All you do is fill up a glass of water and drop in a couple of pumps of your matte foundation, then swirl it around, pop it on your hand and apply it with a brush or beauty blender.

The result? A natural, matte finish that doesn’t need to be set in place, and doesn't transfer throughout the day (I literally did a 45-minute workout and didn’t even need to touch up).

I have to say this one definitely works, but whether I could bring myself to endure the slimy texture of putting dripping wet foundation on my face again is another story.

5. Blend eyeshadow like a pro.

Ever since lockdown ended, I've felt like I've completely forgotten how to blend eyeshadow.

Thankfully, I stumbled upon this genius hack a few months back.

All you do is take your regular eyelash curler, close your eye and place it in the crease and swipe your eyeshadow over the top.

Then, take one of the handles of the eyelash curler and line it up with the corner of your outer eye and apply the shadow again.

(The pure shock on my face that it actually worked was not one of a paid actor!). Image: Supplied.

6. Fake a face lift.

I'm sure we were all taught that blush is applied to the apples of your cheeks. However, this makeup hack by @alexxandra.makeup has me thinking I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time.

Appling your blush along the high-point of your cheekbone draws the eye upward, rather than sideways if you place it on the apples.

Below, you can see on the left side I applied blush up along my cheekbone and on the right, it's been applied to the apples of my cheeks.

Simple change, big difference!

7. The trick to bump-free skin.

Keratosis pilaris, sometimes referred to as ‘strawberry skin’, is those little white bumps and rough patches that sometimes appear on your arms.

It happens when hair follicles become blocked with dead skin cells and can flake and become itchy.

However, if you apply exfoliating acids to the affected area, such as glycolic acid, it’ll gently exfoliate accumulated dead skin and dissolve the clog inside the hair follicle that's causing the skin to appear bumpy.

Continued use will leave your skin feeling soft, smooth, and completely bump-free. Try it!
