Embryolisse just upgraded their cult $47 moisturiser so we had to try it immediately.

Thanks to our brand partner, Embryolisse

The Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré has been in my skincare routine since I did a review video on it back in 2022.

It's crazy to think that they sell one tube every 8 seconds worldwide. So, when I heard they were dropping a new version called the Lait Crème Multi-Protection, I was all ears. It's like the cool, protective sister of the OG cream, promising to help shield our skin from pollution and those pesky blue light rays.

Embryolisse's products are dermatologist-developed and makeup artist-approved. Their products not only nourish your skin but also play super nice under makeup, no annoying pilling or anything.

I picked up my own tube, and did some trialling for a week. So, let's get down to it.

How does the Lait Crème Multi-Protection differ from the original?

Great question. Okay, so firstly the iconic Lait Crème Concentré delivers us:

  • A multi-functional moisturiser.

  • Thick non-comedogenic, rich cream with a glowy finish.

  • Can be used as a rich moisturiser, hydrating primer under makeup, cleanser, flash-mask, and care after-sun, and after-shave.

  • Features aloe vera, soy protein, shea butter and beeswax.

  • No SPF.

  • Recyclable aluminium tube.

  • Retails at $47 for 75ml, and $27 for 30ml.

Its new sister on the other hand, the Lait Crème Multi-Protection promises to be:

  • An anti-pollution moisturiser.

  • A silky non-comedogenic, light cream with an invisible finish.

  • Can be used as a daytime moisturiser alone or under makeup.

  • Same core formula, plus four organic filters that work to block blue light radiation, UVA-UVB as well as other infrared rays that damage collagen and elastin fibres from screens.

  • Features aloe vera, soy protein, shea butter, beeswax and vitamin E.

  • Contains SPF15.

  • Comes in a recyclable aluminium tube.

  • Retails at $45 for 40ml.

What is blue light and why do I need protection from it?

A questions plenty of us are probably scratching our heads over.

Blue light, also known as visible light, is a component of the light spectrum characterised by its short wavelength and high energy levels. It originates from plenty of different sources, predominantly the sun, but is also emitted by artificial sources like the screens we're all likely jumping between (guilty) throughout each day, found in devices like smartphones, computers, and televisions.

With the nature of digital technology basically embedded in our daily lives, we're spending an estimated average of six hours a day on our devices. Research is telling us that prolonged exposure to blue light, even in as brief as 30 minutes, may be contributing to damaging collagen and elastin fibres in our skin, photoaging and heightened skin pigmentation.

So in recognising the potential challenges we're up against associated with excessive blue light exposure, Embryolisse has formulated a skincare solution aimed at mitigating these effects on the skin. Their innovative formula functions as a barrier cream against blue light radiation, serving as somewhat of a shield for the skin.

By integrating specific ingredients and four organic filters tailored to combat the negative effects of blue light, Embryolisse is definitely at the forefront of addressing emerging skincare concerns that are popping up in the digital context we're living in. This proactive approach underscores their dedication to providing us beauty consumers with effective skincare solutions that not only nourish and hydrate the skin, but also target environmental stressors, ultimately fostering more radiant and healthy-looking skin over time.

How did you go with it?

My experience with the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Multi-Protection both with and without makeup has been nothing short of exceptional. I have very dry, and rosacea prone skin and when applied as part of my morning skincare routine, the lightweight non-comedogenic formula effortlessly glides onto my skin, leaving behind a veil of hydration without any greasy residue.

Its invisible finish makes it an ideal, smooth base for makeup. To test this, I applied my SPF50+ and then either the Nars Light Reflecting Foundation or Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser on alternating days, and the Multi-Protection moisturiser provided the perfect canvas for both, enhancing their performance and extending their wear-time. It also kept my skin looking fresh and radiant throughout the day.

The verdict.

The true testament to the Lait-Crème Multi-Protection's efficacy lies in its performance on days when I opt for a more natural look. Even without makeup, this moisturiser remains a staple in my routine, given the formula is intended to both nourish and help protect my skin from environmental aggressors. Its lightweight texture feels comfortable on the skin, and I appreciate knowing that it's working behind the scenes to shield my complexion from the harmful effects of blue light and UV radiation in addition to my SPF50+.

Whether I am wearing a full-face of makeup or embracing my bare skin, the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Multi-Protection has become a great addition to my routine for healthy-looking, radiant skin.
