Lucy Lemon would have never imagined herself to be on OnlyFans.
“I’m not like a lot of other creators. I’m very reserved, I live a quiet life and I don’t want people in my private life to see that other, more sexual side of me. I wouldn’t even talk about my sex life with my friends,” Lucy told Mamamia.
But yet, just two years into being a creator, she has over 751,000 followers on Instagram and has landed herself in the top 0.02 per cent of creators on OnlyFans, all while never revealing her identity.
Lucy was working a low-paying corporate job when she came across a TikTok live stream where an OnlyFans creator was explaining how much money she made through the platform.
“And I was like, oh my god, that would be amazing. Even a portion of that to supplement my income would be incredible,” she said.
So, the 31-year-old set up an account and created a few social media profiles for promotion. Using her background in social media marketing, she set about trying to gain followers using TikTok, Instagram and Twitter.
"I tried really hard to humanise myself. Obviously, you don't see my face, you only see my body, but I still wanted to have a personality so I shared a lot of videos talking to my audience from the mouth down.
"I’d start my side hustle work in the mornings with a few TikTok live streams – always directing people back to my OnlyFans, continue it on my lunch break and of course, keep working in the evening and on weekends. And I very quickly built a ‘corporate’ niche which came naturally to me, since it was what I was doing in my 9-5," Lucy said.
Just four months in, Lucy was making $5000 a week which she credits to her intense posting schedule. By sharing several videos a day, Lucy managed to go viral on TikTok and Instagram, having an incredible effect on her subscriber base.
"I thought, ‘something’s gotta give’. I couldn’t keep doing both [OnlyFans and full-time work]. I had so many videos go viral that I shot up to the top 0.02 per cent of creators, so I quit my job."
Since then, a top performing month for Lucy has brought in $200,000. On a quieter month, she will bring in anything between $20,000 to $80,000. But she assures people interested in joining OnlyFans anonymously, it’s not "easy money".
"Since the day I started my OnlyFans, I haven't taken a day off," Lucy said.
"I’ve been through a divorce... I’ve been through several surgeries… life dramas. And no one knows. I haven’t seen another Australian creator see such success being anonymous [on OnlyFans] because I’m sure lots of people realise it requires ten times the work and hustle to actually succeed.
"It’s very isolating. I can’t talk to anyone about what I do for work or celebrate my wins, but yet I work constantly. One day I cried for three hours straight while replying to messages."
While Lucy’s mum knows what she does for work, she tells everyone else she runs a ‘social media marketing’ business which keeps her from socialising as often as she might like.
“People don’t realise how much time it takes to do this well, and so many of my friends and family can’t work out how a ‘social media marketing’ business takes up so much of my time. But I’m setting myself up financially to hopefully be able to stop one day, and this is just what it takes.”
Having paid off $40,000 of personal debt before touching a cent of her OnlyFans money for personal use, Lucy says, ultimately for now, the benefits outweigh the negatives.
"Doing OnlyFans has taught me that every regular person you walk past on the street probably has a secret fantasy and I actually find that really interesting… I love getting an intimate insight into so many people’s private lives."
