'The 9 items I'm shopping for the cooler months.'

I know summer isn't over yet, but considering it hasn't been the dry, hot one we thought we were getting, I'm looking forward and thinking about the cooler months ahead — specifically the clothes I'll wear during them.

Although summer is my favourite season for its (usually) good weather, autumn is my favourite for the fashion. It isn't quite time to get completely rugged up, but we can add a layer.

This year, I've been inspired by the autumn/winter fashion overseas more than usual — what shoes, jumpers, jeans and accessories people are wearing. Here's what I'm shopping before the temperature drops.

LMND The Chiara Shirt — Sky, $159.

LMND is my favourite Australian brand for wardrobe essentials that are made to last — I've recommended it to many people. They are most well-known for their shirt and short sets, which can be worn together or separately.

After wearing this shirt in pink many-a-time over summer, I'm looking at this light blue one. It's the perfect relaxed but oversized shape. I'll wear it on its own or with a white singlet underneath.

Uniqlo Premium Lambswool Crew Neck Sweater - Light Grey, $49.90.

The Pinterest girlies are into a grey jumper this season. Imagine a light grey jumper, white t-shirt underneath, wide-leg jeans and a cool pair of sneakers. That's the look; and I'm into it.

Uniqlo makes the best knits that are both good quality and affordable. I already own this lambswool one in black and cream, so I'll be snagging the grey too.

Pull&Bear High-Waist Wide-leg Jeans, $75.99.

Remember how I mentioned wide-leg jeans? Everyone needs a black pair. Pull&Bear make a denim maxi skirt I practically live in that also costs under $100, so I'm going to try their jeans next.

Cami Citrine Silvie Earrings, $79.

Gold jewellery is done for — did you hear the news? I'm kidding! But kind of not.

ICYMI, all the cool kids are switching gold for silver. While I will always be primarily gold, it's fun mixing it up, wearing silver or mixed metals. Jewellery brand Cami Citrine is a more recent find of mine but it's quickly become a favourite, and I love their take on hoops.

Country Road Charlie Flat, $179.

When Country Road released their Autumn '24 collection, I audibly gasped — it might be my favourite collection I've seen for the season ahead so far.

These flats went straight in my basket, because besides having the same name as me, they're cool, trendy and not ballet flats (sorry, just not for me).

LMS The Connie Boots, $299.

These boots have lived rent-free in my head since last year when Australian label LMS released them in black and this warm chocolatey brown. Although they tap into the cowboy boot trend, they aren't too Western that they will date when the trend fades. I love them.

New York Yankees Vintage Navy Cap, $44.99.

It was only recently when it was bucketing outside and I had clean hair that I realised the importance of owning a (chic) cap. Lifestyle brand New Era makes a tonne of these sports caps, depending on what colour and sports team you like.

Le Cap Bandana Scarf — Terracotta, $39.95.

A very cool friend of mine often completes her simple, structured outfits with a red bandana tied around her neck — like adding a pair of earrings or a belt (more on that in a sec). It's a small detail that can pull the outfit together.

Le Cap is an Australian female-owned brand that makes handmade phone straps and bags using bandanas. I received the phone strap as a Christmas present (purchased, not gifted) and use it religiously. So cool.

Pull & Bear Distressed Faux Leather Belt, $19.99.

Another item you forget the importance of? A belt. I love the worn faux leather and gold on this one.
