@cejj why should the hundreds of other people in the venue miss out on hearing the show they paid to see because the mother didn’t have the manners to leave the room to settle the baby? They paid to hear the comedian, not the baby. Many of the people who left with her were attending the show with her, and plenty more people were glad for them to go than left.

Mothers and babies of course should be welcome to go where they please, but show a little respect for other people and either make considerate choices (e.g. avoid venues where you’re required to be quiet) or step out if the baby is being disruptive.

@mamamiamumofteens especially as she then did the media rounds and in each of her television interviews, the baby was extremely noisy, to the point where one of the hosts on the project actually asked if the baby could be given to dad to take away as they were disrupting the interview too!

@lorrae84 you’re absolutely right. At no point did Arj state that ‘the act’ of a woman breastfeeding was interrupting his train of thought, what a terrible untruth that is. He couldn’t even see that she was breastfeeding, and wouldn’t have known a baby was even there if it wasn’t for the fact that the baby was being distractingly loud.

Numerous audience members have come out and said that the baby was being very noisy almost continuously for the first ten minutes of the show, multiple polite hints were given to the mother to take the baby out before she was finally asked to leave (also politely), many other audience members were getting so frustrated with the noise that some terse words were being exchanged, and the mother was showing a lack of consideration for anyone else by not stepping out to settle the baby sooner.

The show booking site says it’s ‘strictly for ages 15+’ - while mums certainly don’t need to stay home with young children, it’s common sense not to bring a baby to a live performance that’s tailored to adults, where the audience is expected to be quiet so they can hear the act. This article is shameful.
