UPDATE:
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission says that Mountain View Farm has recalled its raw milk products after “negotiations” between the consumer watch-dog and the raw milk supplier, according to The Guardian Australia.
Delia Rickard, ACCC deputy chair told The Guardian, “The recalled product is called Organic Bath Milk…This product is sold in containers that resemble commonly used milk containers.”
“If you have this product, do not drink it in any circumstances. Return it to the place of purchase for a full refund,” Ms Rickard said
The owners of Mountain View Farm, the producers of the milk that was allegedly drunk by the sick children say that the warnings on their label are clear and what consumers do with the product once they got home was up to them.
The farm owner, Vicki Jones said she was shocked by news of the toddler’s death, but said the dangers of raw milk had been sensationalised by the media.
The Guardian notes that while the product comes with a warning that it is for “cosmetic purposes only”, posts on the Mountain View Farm’s social media accounts link to others espousing the benefits of drinking raw milk.

sorry to bump an old thread, but I am one of the pre hipster era, non vaccinated and brought up on raw milk (goats milk). there is nothing unhealthy nor risky in this at all. the issue is people going off half baked and doing it on some trend or fad, without addressing other aspects of their lifestyle.
in the same way, i see many people put foward their opinions, while knowing nothing.
personally, i grew up immune to most diseases going round amungst the community, whilst still coming into contact with it. (sadly, meant that i caught things such as chicken pox in my later years, after i left home and was not living so healthy)
Addressing the living on the farm gate as opposed to the city argument, well its false. If there were pathogenic bacteria in the milk, it is reproducing immediately. makes no difference that its refrigerated at the farm, or on transport. (yes, though you do not know how strict the store you bought from was with their storage facilities, but this has nothing to do with the raw milk argument) For all we know, the milk could have been contaminated at the house of the parent whose child got ill.
As to the argument on making an informed decision, look at yourselves, your doing the same thing. driving an opinion that you know nothing about. just because some gov authority "says so" does not make anything fact. also, I'm sorry, but the medical profession know no better either. their educated to detect symptoms and proscribe accordingly.
As an example, cancer. A medical condition well at the forefront of most medical research these days. Why will it never be cured? because its big money. All these charities get big sponsorship, and in turn promote the businesses. Want to sell a product? put a pink ribbon on it and donate. want to promote your business? donate half a mill to charity, so long as the community gets involved, and fundraises the other half, then you get promoted to everyone.
If you wanted to "inform" or "educate" yourself, go and look at the world health organisations (member of the UN) research. Its all been done and there free for whoever wants to look at it. However, its a shocker, and won't take on, as its our basic lifestyle choices that contribute to it, like a domino effect.
However, all i can say to you, we are in the minority, but there are a lot of us who choose to live healthy, and while i don't force my life choices onto you, i find it quite abhorrent that some of you do to others, even insinuating child neglect. For me, you poison your children when you vaccinate them, and if i was to take your logic, i would be clamouring for your child to be taken away as well.
Grew up around dairy farms where most of the kids drank the milk straight from the vat. Never heard of one dying. It was delivered to our house and most every house in the town by the local farmer, who ladled it in to the billies we left out for him, and from there it came to the table for everyone to consume as they saw fit. Never heard of anyone dying. Are you sure it's not the additive companies and the politicians who are feeding each other for profits here?????
