Taylor Swift wears many hats — and I'm not talking about her iconic '22' bowler. 

She's a singer, songwriter, hit-maker, perfect fringe owner, cat lady, global economy saviour, and not to mention, being the most talked about popstar in the world right now.

She's also the daughter of two loving parents who have played a major — albeit under-acknowledged — part in her becoming this generation's biggest superstar. 

As Taylor prepares for her second lot of Eras Tour stadium shows in Sydney, following a record-breaking trio of concerts in Melbourne, her father Scott is expected to be standing stage-side to support his daughter. 

Scott and Taylor's mum Andrea attend most of the 'Blank Space' singer's concerts and they each have designated roles to make the singer's biggest fans' wishes come true. 

So who are Taylor Swift's parents and what exactly do they do on the Eras Tour? We've rounded up all the info here. 

Taylor Swift's parents spent years dedicated to their daughter's music career. 

Marketing manager Andrea and stockbroker Scott married in 1988 before welcoming Taylor in (you guessed it) 1989 and her brother Austin in 1992. The family was initially based in Wyomissing in Pennsylvania, living on a Christmas tree farm, which Swifties will know inspired Taylor's song called (you guessed it) 'Christmas Tree Farm'.  

Even in her early years, Taylor's passion for music was clear. "She was always singing music when she was 3, 5, 6, 7 years old," her dad told UDaily. "It's Taylor doing what she likes to do."

Taylor would perform at local gigs near her hometown of Wyomissing until her parents decided to pursue her dreams by moving to Nashville when she was 14 years old. But instead of moving to the heart of the city, they relocated to a home in Hendersonville, a suburb on the outskirts of Nashville, to relieve some of the pressure on Taylor.

"I never wanted to make that move about her ‘making it'," Andrea told Entertainment Weekly. "Because what a horrible thing if it hadn’t happened, for her to carry that kind of guilt or pressure around... We’ve always told her that this is not about putting food on our table or making our dreams come true."

But Taylor did make it and in a big way. At the age of 14, she landed a record deal with Sony in 2004. 

By 2010, Taylor made history as the youngest artist to win a Grammy for Album of the Year for Fearless which she dedicated to her parents. "This is for all those times that you said I could do whatever I wanted in life," she told her father, Scott. "And my mum, you're my best friend."

Taylor's parents quietly got divorced in 2011 according to multiple outlets, not wanting the split to detract from their daughter's growing career. While the reports are not confirmed, they clearly remain a tight family unit.

Just last month, Scott and Andrea were seen attending a Las Vegas nightclub with their daughter following the Kansas City Chiefs' victory in the Super Bowl LVIII. 

Sharing a video of her folks with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, to TikTok, Taylor wrote: "Accidentally going clubbing with your parents is something everyone should try at least once in their life."

Taylor Swift was named with big career aspirations in mind. 

Since Taylor's parents have both worked in finance, they chose the name Taylor for a specific reason: so their daughter wouldn't be discriminated against in business opportunities for being assumed to be a woman.

"My mum thought it was cool that if you got a business card that said 'Taylor' you wouldn't know if it was a guy or a girl," she told Rolling Stone in 2009. "She wanted me to be a business person in a business world."

Taylor has a close relationship with her parents — so close, they often go on tour with their daughter. 

"My dad is along the ride for this trip," Taylor wrote on MySpace in 2009 about her first tour for Fearless. "He's a social butterfly, and loves being on tour. He loves it so much, he thinks it's absolutely hilarious to embarrass me as much as possible."

So far for the Eras Tour, Scott and Andrea have been present at several shows. Back in April 2023, Taylor gave her a shout-out to her parents while playing in Houston, the city where they got hitched.

"I love you, Houston," Tay shared. "You treat us like Houston is my mum’s hometown, which it is. You treat us like this is where my parents got married, which it is." 

At her homecoming show in Pennsylvania for the Eras Tour, Taylor paid tribute to Andrea for a show that took place on Mother's Day. She played 'The Best Day', as she explained to fans the significance of the song. 

"I wrote this song just compiling these sorts of core childhood memories I had of not just her as a mother, but her as a friend," she said, before recalling the moment she played it to her mum. 

"It's such a beautiful song. Where did you find it? It sounds exactly like the things we went through," Swift recalled her mum replying. "I was like, 'Mum, I wrote it and recorded it secretly, it is our memories. It was the sweetest thing ever because I just think she couldn't have comprehended that I would write a song about the two of us."

Swift also penned the emotional song 'Soon You'll Get Better' about her mum's two-time breast cancer diagnosis and recovery.  

Taylor Swift's dad (or Papa Swift as he's affectionately known by fans) is given a wholesome role at shows. 

During the Australian run of shows so far, Scott has picked out special fans to receive the VIP treatment. 

For some lucky patrons who had only managed to buy restricted view seats at Taylor's first MCG show, they were given VIP passes by Papa Swift. 

"My friend and her daughter had the cheap restricted seats from yesterday's release and rocked up as soon as the gates opened," one fan told 3AW.

"Sat down and Taylor Swift's dad went around and handed them wristbands and entry into the VIP section – apparently about $2000 in total value."

Scott often finds himself in the role of helping fans. Back in 2019, as Swifties camped out overnight to watch Taylor perform on Good Morning America, Taylor's father helped deliver 30 pizzas to hungry fans. 

Taylor Swift's mother often gives out the '22' hat at shows.

For the shows that Andrea attends to support her daughter, Mama Swift is given an even bigger responsibility: who to bestow the '22' hat to. 

For the non-Swifties, this is the hat that a lucky (and typically young) fan is given as Taylor performs her hit bop '22'.

While Mama Swift has never confirmed it herself, the mother of a 16-year-old recipient of the hat said Andrea chose her daughter out of the crowd at a 2023 show. 

Scott Swift gifts fans his daughter's guitar picks. 

Scott is also known to give out guitar picks in the crowd of his daughter's concerts. He even gifted one to Billie Eilish's brother, Finneas. 

"These are my Taylor Swift ‘Lover’ guitar picks," he said during a live stream after attending her show. 

"Taylor Swift’s dad gave them to me backstage one time. He was an incredibly nice man." 

Scott is such a fixture at Taylor's shows that the popstar made a DIY all-access pass for him. At the beginning of the Eras Tour back in March 2023, Taylor shared on Instagram a pass that read "D.O.H. Pass" with "(Dad of Headliner)" written below.
