It's week one on The Block and to say this first room reveal has been an immense challenge for the contestants would be a major understatement.

The couples all had no confidence going into this week's challenge after being told they would be doing a guest bathroom. There were, however, a few major changes this season that helped the Blockheads start off on the right foot.

For starters, The Block's host Scott Cam told the teams they'd all be able to see the schedule across the next 12 weeks to help them prepare. In another Block first, the couples didn't need to pick their homes based on what the standing houses looked like — instead they got to see what the houses will look like.

Oh, and the teams were also provided with sparkies and plumbers.

But that didn't mean the teams carried on without any challenges. Steph and Gian were hit especially hard this week with one setback after another.

Nonetheless, the groups were able to finish their first-ever bathrooms, with only a few hitches!

Here are all the photos from The Block's guest bathroom reveal:

Kyle and Leslie

Money spent: $30,366.

The couple were praised by the judges for the sheer size of their bathroom.

"Look at the roof," Marty noted of the two curves in the ceiling and around the skylights.

"It's just so elegant and so beautifully done," Darren continued. "That plasterwork alone, in the real world, would have taken forever and cost a fortune."

Shaynna agreed, adding "And the fact they've also curved just those little corners in the shower too just blows my mind."

That's not to say there weren't any negative criticism.

Shaynna was concerned by the placement of the drain in the bathroom, saying "It's kind of odd sitting in there when it's so prominent [when they] could have actually set it underneath [the vanity]."

Darren also had a major issue with the fact the couple didn't install underfloor heating, telling the team it was something they definitely should have included when planning for a Melbourne bathroom.

Nonetheless, the judges loved the room.

Leah and Ash

Money spent: $19,691.

Marty remarked the pair had too much going on which meant it wasn't marketable. "I feel like I am in a nightclub," he said.

Darren couldn't have disagreed more.

"I love it," he said. "I love the details in here: the polished Venetian plaster in that colour offset with [the green colour on wall] and that green marble looks hot. I love it."

Shaynna was stuck in the middle and noted it could be offputting for potential buyers.

"It can be polarising," she said. "I keep thinking, 'I hope you know your market'. It's a very specific type of buyer that will love this room."

Marty said that while it will "stand out," it depends on whether Leah and Ash "will continue with this type of theme into the main residence."

Marty wasn't a fan of the layout, where the door was placed, the frosted window or the white toilet.

"That for me poses quite an issue," he said.

Shaynna agreed, adding the styling felt "half-baked".

The real estate agent then cautioned Leah and Ash to be careful and not run with the bold and unique style throughout the entire house.

Kristy and Brett

Money spent: $17,541.

The Moroccan-themed bathroom had some mixed feedback from the judges, who said it felt like a day spa that wasn't executed all that well.

"I like the look but [the] problem is that shower screen takes away from that day spa feel," she said. "It just fights it. Makes it feel small."

Marty thought it looked "bland," adding it had "no emotional connection."

"To me, they're playing it safe and it's not offensive," he said. "If a buyer was to walk into this bathroom right now, they will leave and not really think too much of it. So it's not really doing them any favours."

"I don't know how I feel," he added.

Darren wasn't a fan of the mixed styles in the bathroom, noting Kristy and Brett will have to stick to a style and run with it.

Steph and Gian

Money spent: $22,362.

The bottom half of Steph and Gian's bathroom was a success, but the judges didn't like what they saw when they looked up and spotted the wooden beams.

"Planning-wise, this is a major success," Darren said in reference to the sliding door, raked ceiling and skylight. "You can see here one of the best layouts of the day."

Darren loved the taps, vanity and mirrors but hated the wooden beams, saying they didn't look "rustic" but rather "unfinished."

"It's a dog's breakfast."

The functionality was not all there either, said the judges, who noted they only had one towel rail and it didn't work.

Eliza and Liberty

Money spent: $26,262.

The judge's initial reaction upon walking into House 5's bathroom was "wow". There was a lot to love in the sisters' home.

Eliza and Liberty might not be the most experienced renovators on The Block (read: no experience), but they weren't afraid to take a crack at it, which Darren, Marty and Shaynna recognised.

"That wall tile just lets the floor tile sing and I think it's just really a super good choice," said Darren.

Shaynna agreed, adding she thought the colour palettes were "beautiful" but did criticise the use of a variety of copper in the bathroom.

The height of the showerhead and the toilet's flushing button were both too high, the judges noted. "How tall do they think the buyer is going to be?" Darren questioned.

Overall, the trio had good notes and a few critiques for the pair, but agreed they have a lot of potential.

The scores were tallied before Kyle and Leslie's guest bathroom took the win.

House 1 walked away with $10,000 in cash and a gifted stay at one of the best retreat Victoria has to offer...

Next week, Cam is making the contestants renovate their own guest bedrooms.
