What is Three Women about?

In 2019, writer Lisa Taddeo set the world on fire with her deeply intoxicating portrayal of the sexual identity of three different women. Throughout the book we learn the stories of Lina, a bored housewife who feels forgotten and begins an affair with an old flame; Sloane, a fiery restaurant owner who is married but engaged in consensual extramarital flings and Maggie, a teenager who finds accuses her married English teacher of being involved in an inappropriate relationship.

Oh, and one other thing? All of these tales are true stories. Taddeo was able to gracefully tell these women's stories by closely following them over the course of 10 years. The result? A searing and boldly accurate portrayal of the nuance of womanhood and the many layers that create our identity.

What was the reception to Three Women?

It’s hard to think of another book that held such a universal chokehold on female readers quite like Three Women did upon its release in 2019. It hit #1 on The New York Times Bestseller’s List and was awarded The British Book Awards Non-Fiction Narrative Book Of The Year.

Elsewhere, the book garnered hoards of celebrity fans with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Drew Barrymore and Emma Watson among the many singing its praises. Gwyneth Paltrow even said she "could literally not put it down".

Same, Gwynnie. Same.

Who has been cast in Three Women?

The series places Taddeo – played by incredible actress Shailene Woodley – right at the centre of the story. In this adaptation, the tale will be loosely based on Taddeo’s experience, which will be parlayed into a character named, Gia.

Betty Giplin, who first burst onto our screens as Debbie in Netflix’s Glow, will play the part of Lina. DeWanda Wise (Jurassic World: Dominion) has sunk her teeth into the role of Sloane, and Gabrielle Greevy (In My Skin) will step into the shoes of Maggie.

The impressive line up doesn’t end there – we’ll also see Lola Kirke, Blair Underwood, John Patrick Amedori and Blair Redford rounding out the supporting cast.

Fans of the original book will also be buoyed by the fact that writer Taddeo served as an executive producer and was heavily involved in the adaptation.

Three Women is available to stream now, only on Stan.
