'I tried the 90-second hair treatment celebrities love. Here is my honest verdict.'

Mamamia’s Tried and Tested series is your review of the latest to hit our desks in beauty, health and wellbeing. You won’t find any #sponsored content here, just honest, relatable and independent advice. This week, Mamamia's Beauty Editor trials the Wella Professionals Ultimate Repair Miracle Rescue.

A thing you might not know: I have frizzy, curly, disobedient hair. For this reason, I'm big on the heat tools, which of course means my hair is prone to damage — and then just gets more frizzy and disobedient.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As someone who tries and tests a lot of products for a living, I've tried my fair share of hair treatments to repair my frazzled mop — and while I've tried a lot of great products, the inconsistency of my hair maintenance is real. Mostly because I need something that is quick, easy and doesn't involve me standing in the shower and waiting ten minutes.

So when I came across the 90 second Wella Professionals Ultimate Repair Miracle Rescue treatment, I was intrigued.

Used and loved by celebrity hairstylist Davontae Washington, it's supposed to frequent the heads of celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion and Ciara.

The best part? It promises to work its magic instantly, repairing the hair from the inside out.

So, does it actually work? I put it to the test.

What is Wella Professionals Miracle Hair Rescue?

Wella Professionals Ultimate Repair Miracle Rescue treatment is a leave-on spray that promises to repair hair damage in just 90 seconds.

On the Sephora website, it's described as a five-in-one professional hair protection from breakage, UV, heat, mechanical damage and frizz. Which just sounds like a very good time for someone who has all of these things.

It also says that after one use you can expect 12 times smoother hair, 99 per cent less breakage and a next-level shine that lasts up to four washes. Sounds pretty good!

Here's what it looks like:

Here it is!

When it comes to the ingredients, the formula features alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) which promises to rebuild the inside strength of the hair, as well as omega 9 to replenish the outer barrier of damaged hair. So, it literally works from the inside out to repair your strands.

You can purchase it from Sephora — the 30ml bottle is $48 and the 140ml is $56.

How did you go with it?

Okay, but anything marketed with the words 'seconds' and 'instant' usually makes me feel like it's going to be BS. It almost sounds too good to be true. But as someone who is a sucker for quick, no-fuss results, I have to admit — I was intrigued.

With haircare being one area of my beauty routine where I like to do as little as possible on the maintenance front, I'm up for anything that doesn't involve 10-steps, waiting in the shower and washing your hair twice over.

Now, I've actually been using this treatment over the past few months, and I have to say — the ease of the process is actually pretty bloody impressive. You literally wash your hair as normal and spritz 10 to 20 pumps to towel-dried hair, comb through and you're done.

No rinsing. No waiting. No fuss.

As soon as my hair dries, it usually goes puffy, frizzy and annoying and it makes styling a TASK. However, my thirsty, curly strands soaked this formula right up (I spritzed it through my hair as per the instructions and combed it through), and it gave instant frizz control.

When it came to styling (I usually blow dry and straighten) I find everything is quicker, easier and my hair just looked a million times better.

Which brings me to...

The verdict.

This product has dipped in and out of my routine over the past couple of months, but giving it a proper whirl has proven it should be a hair routine staple for a lazy girl like me.

In case I haven't mentioned the first 74 times, I like how this hair treatment is one that's actually easy to use — with a few sprays it instantly transforms damaged hair into happy, healthy hair again.

Here's what my hair looks like before and after using the hair treatment:

Like, come on. My hair looks silky, smooth and a million times healthier. Extra points for how it makes styling a breeze.

Overall, I get the hype. I get why it's become such a celebrity staple. It's quick, easy, no-fuss and is a serious heavy-lifter when it comes to repairing damage, de-tangling and smoothing the hair.

At $48, it's not exactly the most affordable hair treatment on the market, but it's also not the most expensive. In my opinion, though, it's worth it for the results, and would be something I'd re-purchase again.

For my dry, damaged, frizzy gals, I recommend giving the smaller (30ml) version a go and seeing if you like it, before committing to the full-size. Let us know how you go!
